Sean McLeod: Biography
Sean McLeod has honed his skills as a Keynote Speaker, Corporate Facilitator, Master of Communication and Life Motivator. Mr. McLeod is an International Artistic Ambassador, Producer and American Choreographer having toured from Germany to South Africa working on the "Mission to South Africa," and to countless other global destinations including San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola, Vancouver, and England, as well as many cities across the US.
Sean McLeod is president of the nationally recognized New York Institute of Dance and Education, Corporate Facilitator for Reaching For Higher Ground Consulting, Artistic Director of the Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre, and Executive Producer of the New York Dance Festival. Mr. McLeod is a multi-award winning producer and recipient of the coveted Jefferson Award for Public Service to America, founded by the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He is a receipient of the New York State Liberty Award, the State Highest honor given to a citizen who merited special commendation for their actions on behalf of their fellow New Yorkers. Mr. McLeod is a “SAMMY” award winning choreographer, received the NAACP Millennium Award, and has received the American Red Cross "Great American Heroes" Award for his service and diversity work. He was honored by the Auburn City Council and Mayor Timothy C. Lattimore, being presented with the Key to the City, and named Auburn's International Arts Ambassador.
Sean McLeod was invited to the United Kingdom to premiere three of his dance works in the “International Dance Day” Concert in Basingstoke, England, and teach as part of the American Master Class Tour. The International Day of Dance event showcased an exciting mix of work by choreographers and dancers performing different styles from the US, Nepal, India, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. The event highlighted the world premiere of “Cherchant Ma Voix (Searching for My Voice),” and the England premiere of “L’Equilibre (Balance)” and “Strength of Women,” performed by UK based Brazilian dancer Paula Conduit, and international dancer Lorienne Beals.
Mr. McLeod is a consultant and highly respected facilitator dedicated to using his abilities to facilitate the building of bridges between parties in social conflict. To meet this need, Mr. McLeod founded the New York Institute of Dance and Education; Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre (KDT); the New York Dance Festival; the New York Center for Health and Healing; the Fine Arts Dance Association (FADA); the Educational Tour on Self-esteem through Dance; Community of Color World Culture Celebration; Circles-Expanding Horizons Program; Mission to South Africa; and Reaching for Higher Ground Consulting.
Mr. McLeod is featured in an exhibit by the acclaimed Dance photographer, Mark Andrew. The exhibit premired at the National Museum of Dance and features some of the world's most famous dancers from NYC Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Rebecca Kelly Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company, and the New York Institute of Dance and Education.
