Yoga and Pilates with Susie Birchenough now available at NYIDE!

By special arrangement, Yoga and Pilates training will now be available at the New York Institute of Dance and Education! Susie Birchenough, renowned Yoga and Pilates instructor, will begin instruction at NYIDE with a special introductory workshop, followed by the first 6-week session. The schedule will initially be offered as follows:

Class Descriptions: Yoga with Susie Birchenough

A complete yoga experience, beginning with meditation, spinal moves, warm-up stretches and moving into poses and/or flow, finishing with savasana. All classes are taught with a progressive and creative application of
techniques borrowed from classical systems to dynamically revitalize and awaken strength, flexibility and balance, while bringing profound awareness to the natural gift of breath. The underlying passion throughout is for the
realization of inner wisdom, and the union of mind and body in the meeting place of the heart.

Variations are given in many poses to facilitate students' needs to step up or down in difficulty. Guidance is detailed and sequencing is therapeutic, organized, and organic. Correct alignment, posture and breathing are consistently brought to awareness.

Yoga, without a doubt, is the most important practice for complete health & wellness!

This class will safely challenge and leave you feeling more alive, awake and peaceful. Classes are open to all levels.

Pilates Burn

Get ready to awaken & challenge your core!! In this 1/2 hour class, traditional exercises of Joseph Pilates are practiced in an organized intelligent sequence to lengthen and tone all abdominal muscles. Participants will feel and understand how to train not just core, but all muscles and bones in full extension.

The key to Pilates is that it’s not what you do, it’s how you do what you do. With guided instruction and personalized attention from Susie Birchenough, one will tune into the powerful effectiveness of Pilates. Initially, we will break down each exercise and as we progress, the class will become a flow.

Pilates is highly therapeutic for back & body pain and imbalances. As we learn to create space between each vertebra, creating length in the spine, the abdominal muscles strengthen, which protect the back. Posture is greatly improved, as is flexibility of the spine.

Strength, grace and confidence is heightened and one leaves this potent class feeling taller, toned and kicked up a notch! Classes are open to all levels.
